What is your comment on the health of the elderly now? What about their participation in sports (eg. Exercise)?
Elderly nowadays are more and more concern about their health, however their participation in sports is not as much as in other countries likeHong Kong,Japan,Taiwan, and China.
Health can be improved in elderly through regular exercise activities. They can explore their interest level in exercise by joining elderly community centre activities like Tai Chi, Cha-cha dance or Light Jogging.
Regular exercise provides a myriad of health benefits in elderly includes improvements in blood pressure, diabetes, lipid profile, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, cholesterol, and neurocognitive function. Regular physical activity is also associated with decreased mortality and age related morbidity in elderly.
If we were to come up with an exercise plan for a day for a randomly picked group of elderly people, what types of exercises do you recommend (considering the fact that we do not know if they have any serious cases of back pain etc?). What type of exercises do you think that much create interest in the elderly? In your opinion, would the elderly be interested in exercising when the exercise plan allows engagement with their friends?
Walking or Tai Chi is the form of exercise that is good and safe for elderly. They can do walking or tai chi with a group of friends so that the activity is more enjoyable.
What do you think is the ideal capacity of the elderly doing exercise?
The ideal capacity of the elderly doing exercise is approximately 30 minutes per day.
